This book presents texts about specific topics in Marine Hydrodynamics written by several contributors with experience in Engineering education and research. Scientific reasoning based on first principles is the approach made here available to readers aiming at a fundamental understanding of some typical methods for obtaining reliable technical information at the early design stages.

The book is intended to be used at a Master level, but with the possibility of use at the undergraduate level with some instructor guidance, being irrelevant the sequence of presentation of the chapters. Topics here presented include: maneuvering of displacement ships and of submersibles, linear surface waves, wave resistance of displacement ships and submerged bodies at constant velocity, mooring lines, and an introduction to particles hydrodynamics.
